Lego Tradition Going Strong at Museum

Photos & Stories — By Catherine Gilbert on December 16, 2009 at 5:22 pm

Why come to the Campbell River Museum to play with Lego?  Because we’ve got lots of it, lots of space, and lots of keen participants to share ideas with.  Lego bricks have been around for as long as the Museum, celebrating the 50th anniversary last year.  Pictured here is a group of enthusiastic youngsters who attended the most recent Lego Day.  There is quite often a theme for Museum Lego Days, with the latest one being all about building machines that deal with snow.  For Halloween, builders were encouraged to put together something scary and in May, participants worked on building machines that work in honour of Mayworks.  Watch for the next Lego Days coming in the New Year.  Check out our website under Public Programs for dates, or call the Museum at 250-287-3103.  The fee is small, but the activity is big!

What better gift to give than a memento of the logging and mining industries that shaped our Vancouver Island culture. Pictured here is a Logger Legacy piece – sterling silver haulback block miniature (the wheel rotates) in the form of a pendant that can be converted to a key chain…buy it now just in time for Christmas!
